I don't think I need to say anything about how awesome this mash up is...

Hardware Store Supplies All Your Zombie Apocalypse Needs!

Westlake Ace Hardware is now helping zombies AND the living with their everyday needs, such as how to prevent further decay, stains, and patching walls which the undead may have busted through en route to your brain.

Seems like a pretty creative sales technique to me. Go Ace Hardware!

Don't Step on My Poetry

Arguably, you could say building a machine to spray art kind of lowers the artistic value of the practice, but I'm always open to creativity in all it's forms. Unless it involves squirrels and any sort of gel. That's just sick and you should just stop. What?

Anyway, this guy made a machine that sprays out calligraphic poetry in water. Kudos to him for doing something no one has done!

The Geeks Will Inherit the Earth (video)

Take that, high school! ...now where are all the money and cars I just bragged about?

Oh.

Damn it!

New Avengers Trailer: I knew there was some reason for the Thor and Captain America movies

Not that the movies were really bad, but didn't anyone else leave the theaters with an empty feeling after seeing that both Thor and Captain America had little more value than being Avengers prequels? Perhaps it was just me, but I had the same gnawing regret about buying tickets to see them as I had when I saw X-men Origins: Wolverine-- except the Avenger Origins movies were an honest to goodness bait-n-switch. Now that's not fair Paramount-- if I had wanted your ugly friend, I would have spent my money on that creature and not on your fine promises.

Violent Video Games Not to Blame for Hostility in Kids

USA Today reports that violent content in video games does not cause kids to behave violently toward others. While highly competitive games can cause people with certain personality traits to increase in hostility, the study showed that we need to look more at the person and less at their gaming habits for the source of such behavior.

Kids who are moody, unfriendly, or impulsive probably are the ones you want to keep from playing too many video games, according to the study.

Strange Animal Defenses

So I haven't done much on the animal kingdom but, I am a big fan. One of my most favorite shows is the Animal Planet's "Most Extreme." The insect pictured above is the Camponotus saundersi from Malaysia. This ant goes all suicide bomber and blows it self up when it feels threatened.

Spock Attends His Final Convention

Live long and prosper, Nimoy.

Last weekend, Leonard Nimoy bid his last convention good-bye with a "live long and prosper". At 80 years old, Nimoy has already said he's retired and not going to be in the next Star Trek movie-- which, personally, I am very sad about. Having one of the original cast in the new film made me feel like I wasn't losing the characters/show I loved as a kid (no, I'm not that old. My father just raised me right-- on Star Trek every night before bed well into my tweens. Really.)

Anyway, I hope to see Nimoy walking down the street one of these days. Really, I'm a fan of not only his work in Star Trek, but also his appearances on pretty much anything, from Mission Impossible (because the TV show kicks the movies' ugly, overly-Tom-Cruise-focused butts) to Columbo. Nimoy is one of the finest actors to grace my childhood TV screens, so here's a shout out to him in his retirement-- may he truly live long and prosper.
