This is the future according to movies and TV shows. It is kind of interesting to see where we will be in the future. It is sad to know I will most likely live not live to see Total Recall, Judge Dredd, The Jetsons, and Fifth element :*(

Lights aren't on and Everyone's Home.

We have had a power outage. For the past 7 hours all of San Diego County has been with out power. Not just SD County, but parts of Mexico, Orange County, and Riverside, effecting over 1.4 million people.

I had been charging my phone with my slowly dying laptop while tethering my interwebs to try and find out WTF was going on with the no power. 7 hours later, just as I was about to fall asleep. BAM! The lights came on. Now it is kinda funny because I a watching the news and still not many people have their power back. I think I will turn on my AC just because...

You know we've been bitching about the changes on the new Blu-ray version, and frankly, I think V+ and I will probably make a lot of fun of them when we are forced to watch them out of morbid curiosity. I think that would indicate we at I Like to Geek are only just at the bargaining stage. I can't promise we'll get past that for a long while though.

A Piece of History: The First 3D Digital Film

According to Open Culture, this video began what some of us might recognize as modern techniques for creating CG life on the big screen. This film showcases the making of a hand which looks undeniably like a disembodied clip of a 3rd generation Sim performing various hand movements. Considering this is a video from 1972, that's pretty impressive.
